TELETEK

Teletek is an electronics manufacturer, originally specializing in alarm systems, but now expanding its business into manufacturing and engineering services.

Teletek plans to target SMEs in Bulgaria and Western Europe requiring high quality, low-cost electronic design and production services for relatively small production runs. Teletek is able to provide a complete package of services to its SME clients, including concept development, product design, components sourcing, electronic board assembly, and product assembly and packaging, and this is particularly valuable to smaller customers with smaller order volumes.

Teletek Electronics received $400,000 from the Trans-Balkan Bulgaria Fund (TBBF) in April 2001, with a further $100,000 committed. This has been used to purchase a Philips surface mounting circuit board production machine and for the development of an intensive marketing effort to contact potential new clients. Teletek plans to identify new customers through active attendance at key Western European electronics trade shows, and through direct marketing efforts from its new export department.

Even prior to the investment, Teletek had taken advantage of TBBF-organized technical assistance with visits from an inventory management and purchasing expert, to advise on how to meet the challenges of expanding production, and a marketing consultant. SEAF's network and SEAF's BSU in the Netherlands will be used to develop Teletek's targeted customer base.
